GEF 8 Expression of Interest(EOI) for the Wildlife Conservation Development Integrated Program presented – 13/02/2023

PS Wildlife chaired a meeting where the GEF 8 Expression of Interest(EOI) for the Wildlife Conservation Development Integrated Program was presented. 
The EOI focuses on scaling existing information systems, infrastructure and equipment towards preventing and mitigating Human wildlife conflict; knowledge management on Zoonotic diseases and HWC; Community strengthening and gender and youth inclusion in wildlife governance and management. 
The specific components are:
  1. Support integrated management of HWC through institutional strengthening 
  2. Enhancing surveillance and monitoring of zoonotic and animal diseases.
  3. Strengthening community-led conservation to address HWC; and  
  4. Knowledge management and coordination
The next steps will involve processing the EOI through the Operational Focal Point (State Department for Environment and Climate Change) and thereafter they will submit the EOI for further review by a GEF agency, Conservancy International.

The objective of the Wildlife Conservation for Development Integrated Program is to conserve wildlife and landscapes by transforming the drivers of species loss & ensuring that communities benefit from these natural assets.
