KENYA ASSOCIATION OF TRAVEL AGENTS’ ANNUAL CONVENTION AND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING-16/6/2023

The Cabinet Secretary (CS), Peninah Malonza, has today morning officially opened the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) annual convention and Annual General Meeting, in Naivasha. The CS was accompanied by the Principal Secretary Tourism, Mr. John Ololtuaa, and other Ministry officials.

“Today, as we assess the progress made in the tourism and travel industry and strategize for its recovery and future growth, collaboration and partnerships are key. In the face of the pandemic, we worked tirelessly to ensure the highest levels of recovery,” said the CS.

The CS also added that as a nation, we are blessed with breath-taking tourism experiences including; landscapes, diverse wildlife, and a rich cultural heritage, Kenya stands ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges presented by the global tourism market.

“We must adapt to the new normal and implement robust measures to ensure the well-being of visitors and our citizens. Collaborative efforts between the government, travel agents, airlines, and other stakeholders are essential to restore travelers’ confidence and position Kenya as a safe and desirable destination,” added Malonza.

The CS also said that the Government is actively working to improve the aviation infrastructure, expand airport capacities, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the nation’s air travel services.

“Collaboration between my Ministry and travel agents is paramount. While the Ministry develops policies and strategies to attract tourists, it is through our partnership with travel agents that we can effectively market Kenya and create tailored tourism packages. By tapping into niche markets, identifying emerging trends, and catering to different traveller segments, we can enhance the travellers experience and promote Kenya as a must-visit destination,” said Malonza.

The Kenya Association of Travel Agents is the national umbrella body for Travel Agents in Kenya, with a growing membership of over 240 Travel Agencies. It is Kenya’s largest and only membership organization for travel agents.
