Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Peninah Malonza, met Hon. Tom Butime, Ugandan Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, in Panama. She shared Kenya’s submissions to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, including proposed Elephant Fund towards sustainable financing for elephant conservation.
They also agreed to work together to sustain the international ivory trade ban.
Equally, Kenya agreed to support Uganda’s proposal on Hippopotamus to remain in appendix II, since there is no much evidence that it’s affected by international trade.
