TOURISM STATE DEPARTMENT HOLDS A STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT FORUM ON THE PROPOSED NATIONAL TOURISM POLICY AND THE TOURISM (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2024 IN EMBU – 26/02/2025

The State Department for Tourism today engaged tourism stakeholders and the public from Embu, Isiolo, Tharaka Nithi, and Marsabit Counties in discussions on the proposed National Tourism Policy and the Tourism (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The forum was held in Embu.

The policy review seeks to promote sustainable tourism, establish a robust legal and institutional framework, enforce quality tourism standards, align the sector with national and international development plans, attract investment, and develop innovative tourism products driven by research, technology, and consumer preferences.

Hon. Francis Ndwiga, Embu County’s CECM for Trade, Tourism, and Industry Development, officially opened the event on behalf of the Governor. Also in attendance were Virginia Ngugi, Director of Tourism, Embu County; Geoffrey Chabari, Director of Tourism, Tharaka Nithi; and officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
