PUBLIC PARTICIPATION ENGAGEMENT ON PROPOSED NATIONAL TOURISM POLICY AND THE TOURISM (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2024 IN NYERI -23/02/2025

The State Department for Tourism on Monday 23, engaged tourism stakeholders from Nyeri, Laikipia, Murang’a and Kirinyaga Counties on the proposed National Tourism Policy and the Tourism (amendment) Bill, 2024 in Nyeri.

The Policy review aims to promote sustainable tourism, provide legal and institutional framework for the sector, develop and implement quality tourism standards, integrate tourism sector issues to align to international and national development plans, mobilize resources for investment in the Tourism sector, develop tourism products that respond to consumer needs obtained through research, innovation and use of new technology.

The event was officially opened by the Tetu Deputy County Commissioner Virginia Gathumbi who represented the Nyeri County Commisioner Ronald Mwiwawi.

Also present was the Nyeri County Chief officer Trade and Tourism George Mwangi, Nyeri Country Director Culture and Tourism Mary Kimamo
