Tourism stakeholders and members of the public from Garissa and Wajir Counties engaged the State Department for Tourism on the proposed National Tourism Policy and the Tourism (amendment) Bill, 2024 in Garissa.
They presented their views and contributions to the development of the policy and legal framework that will foster sustainability of the tourism sector.
The Policy review aims to promote sustainable tourism, provide legal and institutional framework for the sector, develop and implement quality tourism standards, integrate tourism sector issues to align to international and national development plans, mobilize resources for investment in the Tourism sector, develop tourism products that respond to consumer needs obtained through research, innovation and use of new technology.
The event was officially opened by the Garissa County CECM for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Mr. Mahat Abubak who represented the Governor.
